The initiative aimed to spread awareness about glaucoma, myopia, overall eye health care, and computer vision syndrome. The session highlighted the importance of eye care, stressing that eyes are among the most precious gifts, enabling individuals to learn, grow, and achieve their aspirations.
The programme witnessed participation from students of classes 4 to 12, teachers, school staff, and club members.
More than 140 individuals underwent eye screening during the camp. Eye drops and medicines were distributed to those in need from the district hospital, and all teachers were also screened as part of the initiative.
Several students were identified for urgent further check-ups and were advised on the need for corrective glasses. Cases of myopia and high myopia were also detected during the screening process.
World Glaucoma Week is observed globally to raise awareness about glaucoma, often referred to as the “silent thief of sight", as it progresses without noticeable symptoms until significant vision loss occurs. The programme stressed the importance of regular eye check-ups for early detection and prevention.
Students were encouraged to adopt healthy eye care practices, including studying in proper lighting, limiting screen time, and maintaining a balanced diet.
