Awareness programme on scientific Mithun production practices held at Khonoma Village with farmers and ICAR experts’ participation.

DIMAPUR — An awareness programme on scientific Mithun production practices-cum-input distribution under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) was organised on March 20 at Khonoma Village, Kohima district.
The awareness programme was held in collaboration with the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun and ICAR-Mahatma Gandhi Integrated Farming Research Institute, an update stated.

The programme, attended by Mithun-rearing farmers, focused on promoting scientific management practices, including feeding, nutrition, and integrated farming systems.
Experts delivered technical sessions, followed by an interactive discussion addressing farmers’ field-level issues.
During the programme, inputs were distributed to support improved Mithun management. A total of 100 rolls of barbed wire were provided to 100 farmers under ICAR-MGIFRI support, while ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun distributed ear tags, applicators, and restraining ropes to the beneficiaries.
The programme concluded with a field visit to the Mithun conservation unit, offering practical exposure to the participants.
