DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the recent notification issued by the Department of School Education (DoSE) on August 22, concerning rationalisation of teachers.

In a representation addressed to the Principal Director of School Education, ENSF stated that despite the acute shortage of teachers in schools under the Eastern region, the notification has led to large-scale transfers without relievers. “This decision is unjust, insensitive, and severely detrimental to the education of students in our region,” it said.

ENSF appealed that teachers who have been transferred should be retained until proper replacements are provided. “The Eastern region is already grappling with inadequate teaching staff, and such measures only aggravate the existing challenges,” the federation said.

It urged the department to reconsider the decision and ensure that no transfer is carried out without a substitute. Stressing that education is a fundamental right, ENSF asserted it would not allow even a single teacher to be relieved without replacement and vowed to continue raising its concerns to safeguard the academic future of students.

As the apex student body of the Eastern region, ENSF reaffirmed its commitment to protect the interests of the student community and called for urgent intervention by the department to resolve the issue.
