Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Phek, celebrates Kisan Diwas or National Farmers’ Day with local farmers.

DIMAPUR — The ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek, (ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun), under ATARI Zone VII, Umiam, organised Kisan Diwas along with an awareness programme on Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Act, 2025, at the KVK premises on December 23.
The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among farmers about sustainable agricultural practices, flagship central government schemes, and initiatives aimed at farmers’ welfare and socio-economic development.
The programme commenced with a series of technical lectures focusing on important central government schemes that promote agricultural growth, rural livelihood security, and enhancement of farmers’ income.
The salient features of the Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Act, 2025 were also explained in the local dialect to ensure better understanding and effective dissemination among the participating farmers.
Expert sessions were also delivered on scientific cultivation practices of kiwi and persimmon, highlighting improved varieties, crop management practices, and market potential. In addition, a lecture on the semi-intensive method of Mithun rearing was conducted, emphasising scientific management, nutrition, housing, and its role in enhancing farmers’ income in the region.

An interactive farmer–scientist interaction session was organised, during which farmers actively shared their field-level problems and constraints.
The scientists provided practical, location-specific recommendations and clarified farmers’ queries related to crop production, livestock management, and government support programmes.
The programme also included a live telecast of the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, which was screened at the KVK training hall.
Farmers witnessed the nationwide implementation and beneficiary outreach of the Viksit Bharat – G RAM G programme, gaining insights into its objectives and benefits.
