Employees’ State Insurance Corporation and Nagaland Labour department conduct awareness programme and health camp at Pfütsero CHC to promote social security schemes for workers.

DIMAPUR — An awareness programme and health camp was organised by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and the Department of Labour at Pfütsero Community Health Centre (CHC), Phek district, on February 6 for employers and workers in the organised sector.
According to an update, the programme aimed to provide awareness to the employers and employees about the social security benefits to the workers under the scheme.
Zeremo Kikon, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour department, and Chuba Lemba, Social Security Officer, ESIC, addressed the gathering and briefed the participants about the medical, cash and other benefits available under the ESI Scheme for the workers and their dependent family members.

The roles and responsibilities of the employer were also briefed to the employers.
The officials also informed that in newly implemented/unserved areas or areas lacking sufficient ESI/ESIC dispensaries or other medical arrangements, to provide reasonable medical care to Insured Persons (IPs) and their families, the delivery of primary care through primary health centres (PHCs) and CHCs of respective state governments has been initiated as approved by the corporation/ministry.
Accordingly, 12 CHCs/PHCs have been identified in the first phase for delivery of primary care to ESIC beneficiaries in the newly implemented districts of Nagaland.
An interactive session was also held for addressing queries and providing guidance on registration, compliance, etc., with the employers and employees. A free health check-up camp led by Dr. V Kezo, Medical Officer, Pfütsero CHC, was conducted at the end of the session.
