Elderly pedestrian dies in Chümoukedima accident

• DIMAPUR — In a tragic accident, a man in his 80s and a resident of Tenyiphe 1, lost his life on Tuesday night after he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road at 6th Mile, Chümoukedima.

• According to the officer in charge of traffic control, Chümoukedima, they received information about the incident at around 7 pm.

• The pedestrian died on the spot, while the 18-year-old biker sustained injuries. The biker was admitted to the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) and is reported to be in stable condition.

• No post-mortem was conducted on the deceased, and the body was handed over to the family. The officer stated that a case is likely to be registered on May 7. He also noted that the youth claimed not to have seen the pedestrian.
