Nagaland Labour Department has issued deregistration notices to eight defaulting trade unions, directing them to respond within 30 days.

DIMAPUR — The Labour Commissioner, Nagaland, has notified that eight trade unions registered under Section 8 of the Trade Unions Act, 1926 have been found to be defaulting or non-functional and are therefore liable for deregistration by the Registrar of Trade Unions.
The trade unions are Dimapur Motor Workers Trade Union, Dimapur Auto Rickshaw Owners Union, Dimapur Land Transport Workers Union, East Dimapur Purana Bazaar Labour Trade Union, Dimapur Taxi Drivers Union, Dimapur Cycle Rickshaw Pullers Union, Dimapur Truck Drivers Union, and Kohima District Land Transport Trade Union, Phesama.
According to the notification, the defaulting trade unions have been directed to show cause as to why the Registrar of Trade Unions should not initiate deregistration proceedings under Section 10 of the Trade Unions Act, 1926.

The department stated that any of the unions intending to resume their activities and avoid cancellation of registration must submit a formal intimation to the Registrar of Trade Unions within 30 days from the date of issue of the notification.
It warned that failure to respond within the stipulated period would result in the initiation of necessary proceedings for cancellation of registration in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Trade Unions Act and Rules.
