DIMAPUR — Educational institutions across Nagaland hosted various academic and co-curricular events aimed at enriching student experiences and commemorating notable contributions.
Patkai Christian College: Patkai Christian College (PCC) (Autonomous) hosted its Annual Tuisem A. Shishak Lecture (TSAL 2025) on Saturday, which also featured the presentation of the ‘Annual Alumni Excellence Award’ by Dr. TA Shishak, principal emeritus of PCC, alongside Neikhalo Sono, president of the Alumni Association, Patkai Christian College.
According to a press release, the Annual Alumni Excellence Award was presented to Rajkumar Sanajaoba Singh, a Philosophy major from the Class of 1996, for his outstanding achievements and contributions.
As the speaker of the TSAL series, Colo Mero, Director of Life Ministries, emphasised the importance of honouring living legacies, highlighting Rev. Dr. Tuisem A Shishak’s significant contributions to the college.
In his address, the speaker called for a transformative approach to education, emphasising the need to shift from merely focusing on grades to preparing students for a greater purpose.
He expressed particular concern for young people within the Naga community, who often pursue education without clear career goals, obtain qualifications and take on roles without a sense of purpose. This vague approach, he warned, is failing the youth.
Norman Putsure College: The 6th-semester students of Norman Putsure College made an educational visit to a poultry farm located in Vidima village. Accompanied by four assistant professors, a total of 53 students participated in the visit.
An update mentioned that the tour provided insights into the world of chicken and duck poultry, as well as egg production. Students gained valuable knowledge and useful skills from their enriching visit to the poultry farm.
St. Joseph’s College: The department of English, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, hosted the 10th edition of Theatre Day at the college indoor stadium.
The various plays enacted were “The Monologue of Life” by MA II Semester, “Till Death to Us… Start?” by MA IV Semester, “The Colour of Comedy” by BA II Semester ‘C’, “Cinderella” by BA II Semester ‘D’, “Good Omens” by BA IV Semester ‘C’, “Likes over Lives” by BA IV Semester ‘D’, “Contradictions of Two Generations (Millennial & GenZ)” by BA VI Semester ‘C’, and “The Government Inspector” by BA VI Semester ‘D’. BA IV Semester ‘C’, BA II Semester ‘D’, and BA VI Semester ‘C’ were judged as the first, second, and third place winners, respectively.
NEISSR: The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Peace Centre, 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, launched the Prof. A Lanunungsang Ao Biennial Lecture Series in honour of the academician and social reformer.
An update mentioned that the event was attended by family members and kin of the Rtd. Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, along with distinguished guests, faculty, and students.
