DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has informed all business establishments, commercial institutions, traders, dealers, shopkeepers, vendors, market associations, and the general public within its jurisdiction that the ban on the manufacture, stocking, distribution, sale, and use of single-use plastic (SUP) remains strictly in force in accordance with directives issued by the Government of Nagaland.
In a press release, Dr. Diana Patton, ADC and Executive Officer of EDTC, stated that the town council would intensify inspection and enforcement drives across its jurisdiction with immediate effect to ensure strict compliance with the prohibition.
The council warned that any individual, shop, establishment, institution, or vendor found manufacturing, storing, selling, distributing, or using prohibited single-use plastic items would be liable for penal action, including the seizure of materials and the imposition of fines as prescribed under relevant laws, rules, and government notifications.
The EDTC also appealed to all ward councillors, citizens, business establishments, market associations, and other stakeholders to extend their full cooperation in the effective implementation of the ban.
