DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has directed the public, service providers and concerned stakeholders to remove unused and abandoned cable wires (whether overhead or underground) on or before July 31 to ensure public safety, aesthetic upkeep and to prevent potential hazards.
EDTC issued this statement after having observed that several overhead cables and underground wires have been left unattended and causing obstruction especially in public spaces, footpaths and roadways, thus posing serious risks to pedestrians, vehicles and utility maintenance teams.

The council informed that no new installation of cables (whether above ground or underground) would be permitted without obtaining prior written approval from its office. It added that any unauthorised drain construction from the main road would be treated as a violation.
EDTC appealed to all citizens to cooperate in the larger interest of public, environmental management and preservation of town infrastructure.
It further warned that failure to comply with the above directives would result in penalties, removal of unauthorised infrastructure at the defaulter’s cost and potential legal action as per relevant municipal laws.
