DIMAPUR — Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) held its investiture ceremony for the academic session 2024-25 at the school premises on Friday.


According to an update from the school, the investiture ceremony signifies the trust and confidence the institution places in the newly appointed cadets, who are given the responsibility of assisting the authorities in the smooth operation of the school.


The school's principal attended the ceremony as the chief guest and presided over the pipping of stripes for the school captain, school adjutants and other appointees. It stated that a total of 41 students were appointed including 11 school appointees and 30 house appointees, among whom were three girl cadets who were administered an oath to fulfill their responsibilities.

Following the pipping ceremony, the school's biannual newsletter, 'Voice of the Young Warriors of Morung' (VYWOM), was released.


The chief guest also presented awards to cadets who excelled in academics during the 2024-25 session. The top three ranks in each class were honoured with gold, silver and bronze torches respectively.


Additionally, cock house trophies were awarded for achieving first place in various competitions among junior and senior houses. Melak House received the trophy in the junior category, while Tizu House was recognised in the senior category.


During the event, two Associate NCC Officers (ANO), Keshav Adhikary Chhetry and Sunil Kumar, were honoured for their achievements. ANO Chhetry received the award for best trainee officer in physical fitness for his outstanding performance during training at OTA Kamptee in Maharashtra, which took place from February 3 to March 19, 2025. ANO Sunil Kumar was felicitated for securing the best ANO award at an NCC ceremony for the northeast held in Guwahati on March 25, 2025.


The chief guest congratulated the new appointees and the recipients of the academic excellence awards for their accomplishments. He encouraged the appointees to meet expectations and to set a positive example for their peers.
