DIMAPUR — The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has directed all petrol pump owners and operators within its jurisdiction to strictly adhere to and maintain prescribed standards of hygiene and public amenities.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, the directive follows a resolution adopted during an official meeting held on January 19 at the EDTC office.
The council has mandated that all petrol pumps ensure specific facilities are available and maintained in proper condition for the general public. These include fresh and clean toilet facilities, with separate toilets for persons with disabilities, and air inflation facilities in working condition.
Operators must also ensure fire safety measures and equipment are in place as per safety norms and provide safe and fresh drinking water for public use. The council further emphasised the need for assured quality of petrol and diesel, along with transparent and courteous service to customers.

The EDTC warned that failure to comply within the stipulated time may invite appropriate action as per applicable rules and regulations. The council solicited the cooperation of all concerned in the interest of public welfare and quality maintenance within East Dimapur.
