KOHIMA — The Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) portal was officially launched on Tuesday at the Office of Labour Commissioner in Kohima.

Commissioner & Secretary of Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department, Sotsula, formally unveiled the new digital platform, a DIPR report stated.

Speaking at the launching programme, Sotsula described the initiative as a major milestone in strengthening digital governance and reducing compliance burdens for citizens and entrepreneurs in the state.

She noted that businesses have long faced multiple layers of paperwork and physical procedures to meet statutory requirements.

The new portal enables complete online processing for all services under the Nagaland Shops & Establishments Act, 1986, and on an interim basis, under the Factories Act, 1948.

This includes submission of applications, uploading of documents, payment of fees, and receipt of digitally issued certificates.

Calling it more than just an administrative upgrade, the commissioner & secretary highlighted that the transition marks a significant step towards compliance reduction, simplification of procedures, and enhancing transparency.

She added that eliminating physical submissions and reducing manual interventions will make government services more accessible and efficient.

The system will be introduced in Peren, Phek, Longleng, and Kiphire districts for a three-month pilot phase to ensure smooth implementation.

After the trial, a state-wide rollout will follow based on feedback and the success of this trial ¹.

The commissioner & secretary urged employers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to make full use of the platform and support the department during the transition.

She further emphasised that the new portal aligns with the government’s broader vision of building a business-friendly, digitally empowered, and citizen-centric governance system. The reform, Sotsula said, will help create a simplified regulatory environment that encourages growth, innovation, and investment in Nagaland.
