DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has issued an urgent appeal to the state government to expedite the appointment of the chairman and members of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary on Tuesday, the union stated that the posts of chairman and members of the NPSC have remained vacant since September 13, 2025, following the completion of the previous commission’s term. ANCSU expressed concern that the absence of a fully constituted commission had hindered the NPSC’s efficiency, accountability, and ability to uphold transparency and meritocracy in public recruitment processes.

The prolonged vacancies have created administrative stagnation and several decisions that require approval of a fully constituted commission have remained pending. This has created uncertainty and stress among thousands of aspirants, it said.

Stating that there is “no valid reason in delaying the appointment of the chairman and members,” the ANCSU appealed the chief secretary to immediately issue the official notification and appoint the new chairman and members without further delay.
