Dimapur Municipal Council launches digital rate board
The DMC’s digital rate board which was launched at New Market on Monday.


DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) officially launched its digital rate board, displaying updated pricing information, offering customers real time access to essential rate details, at New Market on Monday.


According to a DIPR report, the inauguration of the digital rate board marks a significant step towards enhancing transparency and accessibility of market rates for the public.


A short speech was delivered by CEO, Thungchabemo Tungoe, who emphasised the municipal council’s commitment to modernising public services and this small initiative shows that Dimapur is progressing.


The CEO stated that the three digital rate boards installed in Dimapur are just the start, with more to come. He said the move promotes transparency, fairness, and accountability, leveraging technology for the benefit of consumers. Tungoe encouraged other councillors to adopt similar initiatives, enhancing their presence and driving progress in Dimapur.

He also informed the business house that, their products and services can be advertised and through the digital board chart, the DMC can earn revenue too.


Delivering the keynote address, Neingutoulie Kenguruse, convenor of the Market Review Committee (MRC), highlighted the importance of digitisation in streamlining market operations and ensuring that consumers receive accurate, updated price information.

He informed that the market regulations and price control branch of DMC is pleased to set up digital  board in  three main market — Supermarket, New Market and Murki Pati with a view of helping general public efficiently and to know the rate of daily essential commodities for fair, transparent business in the city.


Kenguruse also requested the entire business establishment to beautify and decorate their shops during the coming festive seasons and make Dimapur a beautiful place.


The Digital Rate Board was formally inaugurated by DMC chairperson Hukheto Yepthomi, who noted that the initiative reflects DMC’s broader goal of improving public convenience through technology-driven solutions.


He hoped that this installation of Digital rate board will help people know what to pay for which items and to prevent items from getting sold at high prices.

DMC cracks down on illegal poultry imports


The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has observed that certain poultry traders and individual are importing dressed broiler birds from neighbouring Assam without being examined by the concerned authority.


In an order on Monday, the DMC stated that such unregulated supply of dressed birds pose a sever risk to the health of the consumer and violation of food safety regulation. “Therefore those poultry traders are directed to stop import of dressed broiler birds from neighbouring Assam with immediate effect. Defaulters shall be penalised as per the provision of the Municipal Act,” the order stated.
