DIMAPUR — A District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s office in Shamator on June 16 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) and DWSM Chairman Arikumba.
During the meeting, Sub-Divisional Officer of the Public Health Engineering department and DWSM Secretary Imnaingsang Longchar highlighted the works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) activities in the Shamator district. He requested all line departments to share data related to water and sanitation in the district to harmonise the data on the ministry's website.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting also discussed improving the capacity of village water supply committees to raise awareness on the importance of operation and maintenance for sustaining village water supplies.
Additionally, the members discussed improving hygiene at Anganwadi centres and schools by constructing child-friendly toilets and water station facilities using various available government funds to ensure long-term water security in the district.
