DIMAPUR — The new school building of the Government Middle School (GMS), Gidemi, in Phek district was inaugurated on Thursday by Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland, as the special guest.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Dr. Rio lauded the Gidemi village community for showing passion in providing quality education for the village children, stated an update.
True strength of any community lies in the community's dedication to the pursuit of education, he said, and informed the village community about the norms of various school categories under the Department of School Education based on minimum student enrolment.

He reminded the gathering that education is the backbone of progress, which brings empowerment in any area of development.
He also urged the village community to embrace education, recalling how education helps people to transform from "backwardness to the path of progress".
He also reassured the villagers to look into the grievances shared by the village leaders on the need for additional teachers, the need to enrol students in classes 6 to 8 due to the remoteness of the village and the need for strengthening school infrastructure.
Earlier, Niezo D Vadeo, Chairman of SMC GMS Gidemi, shared the plight of village parents in sending children to nearby towns for education.
Nuzota Tetseo, Chairman of Gidemi Village Council, delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Vekhoyi Lohe, VDB secretary.
Dr. Kevizakie Rio was accompanied by Ketshukietuo Dzuvichu, PRO to Advisor for School Education and SCERT, and Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
