MOKOKCHUNG — Rotary International District 3240 Governor Dr. Kameswar Elangbam paid an official visit to the Rotary Club of Mokokchung on June 18.
Dr. Elangbam, who hails from Imphal, Manipur, and is currently based in Shillong, is serving as District Governor for the 2025-26 Rotary year.
Speaking on the occasion, he underscored the significance of Rotary’s service-orientated initiatives and urged members to remain committed to community development.
He outlined Rotary’s key focus areas, including education and literacy, water and sanitation, healthcare, and maternal and child care. He also highlighted environmental protection, remarking that "the environment is the ultimate", and called upon communities to collaborate for sustainable development.
Dr. Elangbam pointed out Rotary’s core values of supporting those in need, promoting equality, and fostering collective responsibility. The Governor also stressed the importance of engaging youth through Interact Clubs, noting that Rotary aims to nurture the next generation of leaders.

Appreciating the Rotary Club of Mokokchung, he said that despite being a compact club with just 20 members, its active members are making a noticeable difference in the town.
As part of the club’s ongoing community projects, 10 ceiling fans were donated to Senkalemba Government Middle School. The District Governor formally handed over the fans during the programme.

Imlitemsu Jamir, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Mokokchung, presented a detailed report on the club’s recent activities and initiatives.
The Rotary Club of Mokokchung currently has 20 members, including 11 Paul Harris Fellows. Established on June 18, 1977, the club observed its 49th foundation day on June 18 and is preparing to celebrate its diamond jubilee next year. It originally began with around 26 charter members, several of whom remain associated with the organisation.
Rotary District 3240 encompasses the seven states of Northeast India along with South and North Bengal and includes 111 Rotary clubs.
