DIMAPUR — Founder-Principal of the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) and Founder-Director of Peace Channel, Dr. Fr. CP Anto, has been honoured with the ‘Best Researcher Award’ at the 13th Indian Social Work Conference 2025, organised by the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI).


In a press release, the NEISSR stated that the conference was held from November 6 to the 8th at Centurion University of Technology and Management, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in collaboration with the Odisha Professional Social Work Association and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).


The National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) is one of the largest member-based organisations of professional social workers in the country, with a network of over 1,000 colleges and universities offering social work education, it stated.


Fr. Anto’s research presentation, titled ‘Advancing peace and conflict transformation studies in social work in India: Academic innovation and community engagement through the Peace Channel,’ was selected for the award from among more than 100 research presentations, representing 23 states across 32 panels.

The award was presented to Dr. Fr. Anto by Prof. Sanjai Bhatt, president of NAPSWI, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to research in social work education, along with a certificate and a cash prize.


In addition to receiving the award, Fr. Anto chaired a parallel technical session on the thematic area ‘Health and spiritual health: Issues in the knowledge society’ on November 7.


He also participated as an expert in a group discussion on, ‘Syllabus, field work, and the inclusion of emerging issues and new topics in social work education,’ particularly in the context of recent curriculum revisions under the National Education Policy (NEP).


“The NEISSR and Peace Channel family take great pride in his achievement and celebrate his continued commitment to inspiring and empowering others through education, research, and peacebuilding,” the release added.
