DIMAPUR — Meetings of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) and Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) were held in Niuland and Pughoboto on April 7, while the Chümoukedima DPDB has scheduled its meeting for April 10.
Niuland: In Niuland, the DPDB convened its meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Jacob Zhimomi, Minister for PHED and Cooperation.
According to a DIPR report, the board reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting, including the decision to conduct field visits to schools and villages to verify the implementation of government projects after the HSLC and HSSLC examinations.
On the occasion, Zhimomi commended Sara S Jamir, Deputy Commissioner, for her dedicated service. Highlighting future priorities, he stressed that the upcoming census exercise would play a crucial role in the district’s development planning. He urged the district administration to convene meetings with gaon buras and village councils prior to the commencement of the operation to ensure awareness and public participation.
He noted the importance of Aadhaar enrolment and accurate data collection, stating that proper documentation is essential for securing developmental benefits. He pointed out the need to establish offices for key departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, and Urban Development. Issues concerning inter-state coordination, particularly in areas bordering Assam, were also deliberated.

Vice Chairman of DPDB and DC Jamir thanked all departments for their cooperation. She pointed out improvements in road connectivity, better coordination in project implementation, and progress in sectors such as education and healthcare.
The board deliberated on the repair of the ceiling of the multipurpose hall-cum-auditorium at Government High School (GHS) Agunaqa. Limaangtet Jamir, DFO/Forest Ranger, gave a presentation on departmental activities. The board also discussed organising a fish festival.
Pughoboto: In Pughoboto, the SDPDB meeting was held at the ADC Office under the chairmanship of Dr. Sukhato A Sema, MLA and SDPDB Chairman, with Meyazungba Jamir, Vice Chairman and ADC, co-chairing the session.
SDO (Civil) Yithachu Thur reported on the Convergence Programme conducted from March 30 to April 2.
Multiple departments collaborated to ensure the delivery of government services and improve public access to essential schemes. The board proposed expanding future initiatives to include more departments.
Michael Kitoho Swu, SDAO, presented a report on an exposure visit undertaken to the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), School of Agricultural Sciences (Nagaland University), and ICAR, Medziphema. Plans for an Integrated Farming System (IFS) Model Demonstration Farm were discussed to promote year-round land utilisation.
Yekiho Sumi, SDO PHED, presented updates on the Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal). Hokiqhe Sheqi, Pughoboto Ad Hoc Town Chairman, highlighted the sub-division’s victory in the 1st Intra-District U-23 Football Tournament.
Chümoukedima: Polan John, Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the DPDB Chümoukedima, informed that the DPDB meeting for the district is scheduled on April 10 at 11:00 am in the DC Conference Hall, Chümoukedima.
