DPDB meetings in Zunheboto and Kiphire review development proposals, administration and upcoming events.
DIMAPUR — District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) monthly meetings were held in Zunheboto and Kiphire on Wednesday to deliberate on developmental proposals, administrative matters, and upcoming events.

Zunheboto: In Zunheboto, the meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference hall, chaired by Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection and DPDB Chairman K Tokugha Sukhalu.
According to a DIPR report, a major issue discussed was the auditorium of Government Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto. The house was informed that the town hall, which had earlier been used as an auditorium, originally belonged to the school but is presently under the Zunheboto Town Council.
In this regard, Sukhalu directed that the auditorium be handed back to the school. The shortage of graduate teachers in the school was also highlighted.
Sukhalu stressed that government schemes and programmes should reach villages and benefit people at the grassroots level. He stated that people should not suffer due to the shortage or absence of government officers and that the young population must be able to benefit from opportunities provided by the government.
He observed that criticism is an integral part of democracy and spoke on state government efforts to secure support from the Centre. Concerns regarding government employees allegedly receiving double salaries were raised, with the house informed that state-level Special Investigation Teams have been constituted.
Sukhalu expressed concern over the absence of the heads of offices from the district and stressed the need for greater administrative presence and accountability.
On pension matters, DC Dharam Raj stated that he would not sign pension documents unless the individual appeared in person, adding that substitutes would not be accepted.
The DC highlighted that INR 1.5 crore had been sanctioned by NITI Aayog for Akuhaito Block under the Aspirational Blocks for Performance initiative. Assistant Controller Khevishe Z Zhimomi delivered a presentation on the relevant legal framework and associated acts and rules.

Kiphire: In Kiphire, the meeting was held at the DC’s conference hall, presided over by DC and Vice Chairman Temsuwati Longkumer.
During the meeting, proposals for society registrations of Jingkhu Mulong Seyochung Town and Green Roots Society were reverted with directions to resubmit with details of past activities and photographs.
Assistant Planning Officer Shoshutho Phoji presented a PowerPoint on Reform Utsav, highlighting campaign activities and the formation and functions of the district-level committee.
The Sericulture department delivered a presentation on activities taken up during 2025-26, highlighting the status of eri-cocoon and castor seed cultivation in the district. The house also deliberated on the upcoming departmental sports scheduled from October 8 to 10.
