The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held meetings in Meluri and Kiphire to discuss development plans and bid farewell to outgoing officers.

DIMAPUR — District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings were held in Meluri and Kiphire on April 16 to deliberate on developmental activities and bid farewell to outgoing administrative officers.
Meluri: The DPDB meeting-cum-farewell programme for the outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Meluri, K Mhathung Tsanglao, was held at Riepetho’s Farm.
Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, MLA and Advisor for New and Renewable Energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), who also serves as the Chairman of the DPDB, highlighted the selection of villages for the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to a DIPR report, he noted that at least eight villages, along with one extra assistant commissioner (EAC) headquarters, have been identified.
He urged government employees to discharge their duties sincerely in the interest of public service and for the overall development of the district. He extended his best wishes to the outgoing DC and acknowledged his service and contributions to the district.
Tsanglao, in his farewell speech, reflecting on his tenure and experiences in the district, called upon the people of Pochury to remain united and continue working together for the progress of the district.
Pointing out the role of the younger generation, he encouraged the youth to pursue education as a vital tool for growth while also exploring avenues beyond government employment. He urged them to make effective use of skill development schemes to create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Reflecting on his time in the district, he shared that he had experienced affection from the people, making his stay feel like a “home away from home".
Earlier, Chubarenla Longchar, District Youth Resource Officer, spoke on behalf of DPDB members, while EAC Zuchibemo Ezung represented the administrative officers. The Pochury Hoho also extended their message.
Kiphire: The Kiphire DPDB meeting was held at the DPDB hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman Temsuwati Longkumer.
While reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting along with the action taken report, the DC stressed the need for intensified awareness programmes by the Department of Minority Affairs and the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission and the facilitation of opening bank accounts at the Longmatra NRB Branch.
The Power department informed the house that the installation of smart metering systems in all government offices is underway as part of the state-wide rollout. It was informed that the replacement is carried out free of cost for consumers under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme and SASCI schemes.
The house deliberated on the issue of land acquisition along National Highway 202, particularly in connection with the proposed upgradation of the existing single-lane road. After deliberation, the house resolved to defer the matter for detailed discussion in the next meeting.
During the meeting, members felicitated outgoing officers Lipichem, District Project Officer of the Land Resources Department, and Moses Newmai, District Cultural Officer of Arts and Culture.
Following the meeting, the district administration conferred certificates of participation for the district-level consultative workshop on Viksit Nagaland 2047, which was held on April 15.
