  • DIMAPUR — The post-graduate students of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, organised the “4th Erudite Fest” at the college indoor stadium on Friday.

  • The special guest of the event was Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and Chairman of the Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board, Bhandari, and the theme was “Educate to Liberate”.

  • According to an update, while speaking on the occasion, Kikon stressed that for any progress to be visible, education is the key and crucial ingredient. • He noted that educated individuals need to change society by choosing the rightful person to hold power.

  • He further emphasised that to be truly liberated, one should not over-glorify government jobs, excessively rely on their parents, or become a prisoner of tribalism. He encouraged the students to read more proactively, highlighting his New Year’s resolution to take a book to the washroom instead of his phone.

  • He urged the students to be vigilant by ensuring they read more consistently. He concluded his speech by saying, “Unless we are educated, we will be a liability and not an asset to our society.”

  • Earlier, in the welcome address, Dr. Fr. Pezhalhoukho George, PG coordinator (SJC), expressed his gratitude to all the attendees and mentioned that the PG block constitutes 7.1% of the college, with 302 students enrolled in the PG block.

  • The 4th Erudite Fest featured activities such as debates, documentary videos, quizzes, and declamations.
