DIMAPUR — Union Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, held a second review meeting with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday, focusing on partnership and progress towards making Viksit Nagaland.
Key state officials and the DoNER ministry team also participated in the meeting.
The discussions centred around supporting Nagaland’s growing coffee industry, promoting its vibrant handloom and handicrafts sector, and leveraging tourism opportunities—especially with the upcoming Hornbill Festival—as a catalyst for economic growth and improved livelihoods.
The meeting also reviewed investment prospects stemming from the Rising Northeast Investors Summit and reaffirmed commitment to the saturation-based development of vibrant villages.
Sharing updates on social media, Scindia wrote, “Partnering for progress towards a #ViksitNagaland. Held the second review meeting with Hon’ble CM of Nagaland, Shri @Neiphiu_Rio ji, concerned state officials and my team at @MDoNER_India. Focused discussions were held to support Nagaland’s growing coffee industry and to promote its vibrant handloom and handicrafts sector."

Scindia also participated in a meeting of the high-level task force on handloom and handicrafts in the Northeast Region (NER), chaired by Rio with the Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, Assam’s Handloom and Textiles Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, and officials from Manipur.
“In line with Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of Fashion for Environment and Empowerment, we deliberated on strengthening the Northeast’s rich handloom and handicrafts ecosystem through enhanced market access, capacity building, and sustainable livelihood opportunities,” Scindia posted.
Meanwhile, Rio expressed gratitude to Scindia for his time, understanding, and valuable feedback and looked forward to continued guidance and support to ensure that development reaches every corner of Nagaland.
On the task force meeting, Rio said discussions were fruitful and provided valuable insights to advance the sector. He expressed hope that the ideas shared would lead to strong and practical plans to promote the handloom and handicrafts sector across Northeast states.
