Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Wokha celebrates diamond jubilee.

DIMAPUR — Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Wokha celebrated its diamond jubilee on September 19 and 20.
A statement from the school noted that the deputy commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar, attended the inaugural programme as the special guest, while the Bishop of Kohima, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) James Thoppil, was the guest of honour.
During his address, the Bishop reflected on the challenges faced by the early Salesian missionaries, highlighting the significant step they took sixty years ago. He encouraged students to adopt strong life values and to strive for positive change in order to build a better Nagaland.
The special guest, Vineet Kumar, shared his personal experiences of failures before successfully passing the competitive examination to become an IAS officer. He emphasised that attributes such as faith, hope and trust are timeless and encouraged students to cultivate those qualities during their school years.

On the second day of the celebration, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA of the 38th Assembly Constituency and an alumnus of the school, recalled the hardships they faced initially and acknowledged the contributions of various Catholic priests to the institution.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Pampackal, Provincial of Dimapur Province, expressed his gratitude to the landowners of Wokha village and the contributions from Longsa village in shaping the school over the years.
During the event, Dr. Libemo Kithan, president of the school's alumni association, announced the alumni award for the school toppers for both HSLC and HSSLC.
Lirhonthung Kithan, president of the Lotha Students’ Union, also spoke at the event, reminiscing about his own school days at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha. He encouraged current students and alumni to authentically follow Don Bosco’s teachings, reminding everyone that true greatness lies not in titles but in the service provided to society.
