WOKHA — The Don Bosco Alumni Association (DBAA), Wokha unit, organised a career guidance and orientation programme for Class X and XII students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS), Wokha, on Monday at the Youth Centre, DBHSS.

The event featured two sessions led by resource persons Dr. Loyingbeni N Ezung, DGO, obstetrician and gynaecologist, and Echungbemo Erui, SDO (Civil), Wokha Sadar.

Dr. Ezung addressed Class X students, offering insights into career opportunities in the medical field, while Erui guided Class XII students on strategies to crack competitive examinations.

Both sessions witnessed active participation, with students engaging in interactive discussions and raising queries.

Earlier, in a brief introductory programme, Rev. Fr. Stephen Chazhisseril SDB, unit delegate of DBAA and Principal of DBHSS Wokha, welcomed the gathering. He urged students to take their studies seriously and choose career paths aligned with their interests.

Delivering the keynote address, Samuel Ezung, vice president (general executive) of DBAA, encouraged students to make the most of the opportunity, stressing that academic degrees alone do not guarantee employment.

He called on them to remain focused, responsible, and determined in their pursuits.

DBAA president Wobenthung J Patton, in his orientation speech, outlined the structure and functioning of the alumni association. He informed that DBAA would continue organising annual events to nurture the community, including career guidance initiatives.

Patton also encouraged students to become responsible individuals and future assets to the institution as alumni.

The programme was moderated by Renchilo Odyuo, vice president (senior), and Samuel Ezung, with Chonchithung Tungoe, secretary DBAA, serving as the recorder. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Chumthungo Mozhui, councillor of DBAA.

Altogether, 300 students from Class X and XII attended the programme.
