District Water and Sanitation Mission Noklak reviewed progress of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission at its recent meeting.

DIMAPUR — The District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Noklak, held its meeting on November 18 at the DC office under the chairmanship of P Mono Khiamniungan, deputy commissioner (DC) and chairman of DWSM Noklak.
During the meeting, the SDO of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Noklak, presented the status report on the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the district.
According to a DIPR report, he highlighted that under JJM, out of the 50 habitations undertaken by the PHED, 48 habitations have been completed, while work is ongoing in two villages.
He informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for sustenance has been submitted through DWSM for three habitations where water sources have shown a decline in discharge. He also mentioned that the DPR for eight habitations left out of the community water supply has been submitted through DWSM Noklak.

On Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), out of 50 villages under the district, 32 villages have been declared either aspiring, rising, or model villages. The department assured the house that documentation for the remaining villages would be expedited, as the physical work has already been completed.
He also highlighted the work progress of the faecal sludge treatment plant at Noklak.
It was decided that the Rural Development (RD) department would submit an official letter to the PHED, intimating the completion of work, supported by a completion certificate and Har Ghar Jal declaration video, for timely updating in the IMIS portal and certification of the three villages as Har Ghar Jal.
The meeting also decided that the office of the deputy commissioner, Noklak, would issue an order regarding the protection and safeguarding of rural water supply infrastructure, including the prevention of disruption to water sources, structures, and pipelines by external agencies.
It was further agreed that the District Welfare Officer, Noklak, and the District Education Officer, Noklak, would be included as members of the mission.
The deputy commissioner requested the PHED to provide security fencing around the Noklak town water source to prevent contamination.
