Department of Social Welfare and Chief Medical Officer Tuensang distributed free assistive devices to beneficiaries at Longkhim-Chare.

DIMAPUR — A distribution of free assistive devices was conducted at Longkhim-Chare by the Department of Social Welfare and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Tuensang, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) at the Town Hall, Longkhim, on November 22.
The distribution included wheelchairs, crutches, and hearing aids for persons with disabilities and senior citizens under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY), according to a DIPR report. H Sethrongkyu Sangtam, advisor for IT and Communication, Economics and Statistics, and Evaluation, attended the occasion as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the advisor said that the distribution could reach the neediest persons because of the dedicated and active initiatives of officers led by the deputy commissioner, CMO, and district welfare officer of Tuensang and thanked them for their effort in bringing such development to the new district.

He stated that the assistive devices were provided after proper assessment by doctors and further informed that those who could not attend could approach the CMO office, Tuensang, to avail of the facility in the future.
While delivering a short speech, DC Tuensang Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa thanked the advisor, the Department of Social Welfare, Tuensang, and the CMO office, Tuensang, for their active initiative in bringing development to the district.
Earlier, the advisor also inaugurated the PHSNS Range Hall at Longkhim town.
The programme was chaired by Social Welfare Inspector, Tuensang, Thsapongcham Sangtam, and the keynote address was delivered by CMO Tuensang, Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum.
