A district-level Red Ribbon quiz competition was held in Mon to raise HIV/AIDS awareness among school students.

DIMAPUR — A district-level Red Ribbon quiz competition for students of classes 8, 9, and 11 was held at the conference hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office in Mon on Tuesday.
The programme, organised by the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) and supported by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), was part of the Youth Fest activities for the year 2026-27, stated an update.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mon Pakon Phom stated that the programme was organised to create awareness and spread knowledge about HIV & AIDS among students. He encouraged all participants to become ambassadors in spreading awareness and accurate information about HIV & AIDS within their communities.
CMO Mon Dr. Supongmenla Walling noted that there is always more to learn about HIV & AIDS and motivated the students by reminding them that there would be more opportunities to participate in the future.

She also advised the teachers-in-charge to continue encouraging and guiding students for future competitions. Wishing the winners success at the state-level competition, she urged them to prepare well and bring pride to the district.
The winners of the competition were Penngam P Khangum and Nokpai Chonglim from Konjong Higher Secondary School in first place; Tinghat W Konyak and Loging Konyak from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in second place; and Anubhav Abhayansh and Shongmoi T Konyak from St. Mary’s High School in third place.
District Programme Officer (DPO), DISHA Mon, Longyim Tzudir delivered the keynote address and explained the objectives and various stages of the competition. He also delivered the opening and closing remarks, encouraging all the participating students.
The winners were presented with certificates signed by the Chief Medical Officer along with cash prizes. All participants were also awarded certificates and cash appreciation awards for their participation. The programme was conducted by the DISHA team in Mon.
