DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing effort to strengthen health services across the district, the District Health Society (DHS), Mon, held a review meeting of Accredited Social Health Activists (Asha) from Phomching, Aboi-2 and Mon blocks on Thursday at Mon Town Council Hall.


An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon, stated that Dr. Wungyong, DPO (RCH & UIP), opened the meeting by addressing the issue of incentives. He reminded Ashas that incentives are granted only upon completion of specific tasks and submission of reports. He encouraged those have not receive their incentives to approach their block coordinators.


While emphasising the vital role played by Ashas in implementing health programmess, he stated that the department’s initiatives would be difficult to operate without them.

Also stressing on the importance of antenatal care, institutional deliveries and vaccinations, he urged the Ashas to guide community members toward utilising those services. Besides, he also highlighted the importance of home-based newborn care (HBNC) and birth waiting homes.


The district programme manager, Moie Bonnie Konyak, encouraged Ashas to remain proactive and raise issues with their coordinators to ensure smooth completion of assignments. She also noted that activity logs and registrations would be reviewed during the meeting.


Changlang, VCCM (UIP), shared insights on the UWIN portal and Asha module, drawing attention to the district’s low performance in immunisation coverage with both ‘fully immunised’ and ‘completely immunised’ figures remaining far below target.


Focusing on malaria eradication, Benjongtemsu, MTS DVBDC, presented on reporting formats, roles and definitions related to malaria management.


During the session, Asha coordinators discussed on key operational areas such as incentives, Asha drug kits, reporting and activity updates, MPV–Nayi Peheli kit/ Saas Bahu Samelin, progress reports, challenges, death registration at health units, EPHC activities and verification of reporting formats for pregnant women, births and deaths, immunisations, headcounts under-five records and NCD registers.
