Tseminyu District Child Protection Unit organises awareness session on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

DIMAPUR — The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tseminyu, on Friday organised an awareness session on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for all the DCPU and Child helpline staff of Tseminyu.
An update from DCPU Tseminyu stated that the session was led by Neivotuonuo Rutsa, legal-cum-probation officer of DCPU Tseminyu, wherein she highlighted that compliance with the POSH Act is not optional but mandatory.
“A safe workplace is not a privilege, it is every woman’s right,” Rutsa said.
She explained that the POSH Act was enacted to provide a safe and secure workplace environment for women and to address complaints of sexual harassment.

She also elaborated on the procedures under the POSH Act including filing complaints, inquiry processes and remedial actions. Besides, she introduced “SHe-Box” (Sexual Harassment Electronic Box), an online platform where women employees could file complaints of workplace harassment directly, and encouraged the participants to visit the SHe-Box website to register complaints and track their status.
It also informed that an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the DCPU Tseminyu has been constituted to address sexual harassment complaints at workplace during the session.
The session concluded with an interactive session, wherein all the participants were urged to be aware of their rights and responsibilities under the Act and to promote safe and respectful workplaces.
