DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Economics and Statistics launched the Baal Aadhaar Registration Counter for Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration for children aged 0-5 years through the Child Enrolment Lite Client (CELC) kit in Kohima on March 17.
The launch was formalised by Akunu S Meyase, Secretary of the Economics and Statistics Department, according to a DIPR report.
The Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration for children aged 0-5 years will ensure that every child is registered at birth and linked with Aadhaar. Biometrics are not captured during Aadhaar enrolment of a child (0-5 age group) and need to be updated at the ages of 5 and 15.

It stated that the early registration of children in the national identity system will ensure their inclusion in various government services and welfare schemes and help support better planning and delivery of child-centric programmes.
The department requests the general public to come forward and avail the Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration for children in the age group of 0-5 years by visiting the designated enrolment centre available at the directorate.
The facilities will also be available in all the District Economics and Statistics Offices shortly, for which necessary procedures are under process with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
