DIMAPUR — Dimapur emerged as the champions of the 6th G Rio Men's U-19 Inter-District Tournament, defeating Kohima by five wickets in the final at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima, on March 25.
According to an update, after winning the toss and opting to bat, Kohima struggled to build momentum against a sharp Dimapur bowling attack and were bowled out for 74 runs in 26.2 overs.
Imkongtemsu was the top scorer with a patient 17 off 58 balls but lacked support from the rest of the batting lineup.
Dimapur’s bowlers dominated proceedings, with Samir Ali claiming three wickets for 14 runs, Yashimeren Jamir taking three for nine, and Raja Kumar securing three for 20.

Chasing a modest target of 75, Dimapur approached the innings steadily and reached 77 for five in 23.3 overs. Shivam top-scored with 18 off 35 balls, guiding the chase despite a few middle-order setbacks.
Kohima’s bowlers showed resilience, with Solomon Awungshi taking three wickets for 14 runs and Sangtsulen Tshunlerii claiming two for 28, but the target proved too small to defend.
Yashimeren Jamir of Dimapur was named the Player of the Match for the final.
Solomon Awungshi of Kohima was named the Player of the Tournament. The Best Batsman award went to Aloto Sumi of Chümoukedima, while Medempok Pongen of Dimapur was named Best Bowler, and Tachuye Trakha of Kohima was awarded Best Wicketkeeper.
