DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has announced the schedule for its elections to appoint a new executive body for the upcoming term.


The tenure of the current office bearers, which officially concluded in July 2024, was extended to facilitate the club's silver jubilee celebration held on December 16, 2024.


According to a press release issued by DPC, in a general meeting held on Monday at the conference hall of E-Space in Dimapur, the members unanimously resolved to conduct the election. A two-member election commission has been appointed to oversee the entire electoral process.


The filling of nominations opens on September 2. The last date for filing nominations is September 9. The election will be conducted on September 10 at the conference hall of E-Space in Dimapur at 1:00 pm.

Elections will be conducted for eight positions on the executive body: president, vice president, general secretary, two joint secretaries, information and publicity secretary, finance secretary, and treasurer.


Eligibility for contesting the elections requires that the candidate should not hold any post under the government establishment or any political party.


The candidate must be an accredited member of the local press to hold any office in the executive council/body. Additionally, the candidate should have been serving in a local paper for at least three years and must have been a member of the DPC for at least three years.
