KOHIMA — An orientation programme for the three selected fellows of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) – Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) Media Fellowship 2025 was held at the KPC office on Monday.
The three journalists selected for the fourth edition of the media fellowship are Shongmo B of Nagaland Tribune, Yarden Jamir of Mokokchung Times, and Chizokho Vero of The Morung Express.
Convenor of the KPC-NBOCWWB fellowship, Vishü Rita Krocha, while highlighting the fellowship, said it was conceived and initiated in 2022. She commented that the fellowship has not only empowered society but also given an opportunity and enabled journalists from the state to explore the vulnerable aspects of people working in the construction sector.
Since its inception in 2022, the fellowship now has a total of 14 journalists from across the state, who have and will experience the joy of getting a special grant to write stories that go beyond regular reporting, she added.

"Once upon a time their stories were least heard of or written about. But with this fellowship, I would say it has also remarkably changed the landscape of how we tell our stories, especially in the sector of construction," she said.
Officials from the NBOCWWB led by the CEO T Chubayanger also attended the orientation programme.
In his address, Chubayanger maintained that the stories produced in the last three editions of the media fellowship provided the board with a clearer vision and shaped their planning. The stories have helped them to move at a faster pace and improve their approach to the schemes and benefits meant for construction workers.
"Through your stories, we came to know the heartbeat of the people we are dealing with," he added.
Pointing out that there are still many who are yet to be on board because of technical difficulties, he urged the media to play a role in educating the target beneficiaries.
KPC President Alice Yhoshü chaired the programme. The three selected fellows shared their thoughts and assured their commitment to delivering their stories. The fellows also signed an agreement and were handed the pre-payment amount.
