Dimapur Police rescued three abducted individuals and arrested five kidnappers in Purana Bazaar, while also apprehending arms and ammunition during security checks.

DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police arrested five abductors from Purana Bazaar on August 11, following the abduction of three non-Naga individuals on the night of August 10.


According to an update from the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, the abductors belonging to various groups abducted the individuals with a ransom demand of INR 2 lakh.


On receipt of the information, Dimapur Police intervened, rescued the victims, and arrested the five individuals suspected to be involved in the crime. In this connection, a case has been registered and is under investigation.

Also, in view of the Independence Day celebration, with heightened security apparatus in place and based on reliable intelligence inputs regarding the presence of armed cadres, searches were conducted in and around the Dimapur area.


One person, namely Toka Sumi, SS Dy. Kilonser, NSCN-R (Wangtin), was arrested from the Nagarjan-Phaipijiang area along with one illegal pistol and ten live rounds of ammunition.


In this connection, a case has been registered and is under investigation.
