NCD, NMDA, and DAYO laud the Dimapur Police for seizing 19,760 bottles of banned codeine-based cough syrup.
DIMAPUR — Multiple organisations in Dimapur have commended the Dimapur Police following the seizure of a massive consignment of banned codeine-based cough syrups from a warehouse at Marwari Patti on August 25.
The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA), and Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) issued separate statements expressing appreciation for the operation which led to the recovery of 126 cartons containing approximately 19,760 bottles of suspected codeine-based cough syrup.
Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association: The NMDA congratulated the Dimapur Police and expressed gratitude to the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) and other government law enforcement agencies for their relentless efforts to apprehend those engaged in the illicit trade.
“As the apex body of medicine dealers in the state, the NMDA strongly condemns such illegal acts committed by any drug licence holder, whether they are our members or non-members. We are strictly against such dealers who indulge in malpractice and misuse their licences for illegal dealings that tarnish the noble profession and endanger the youth and society at large,” the statement read.
The association reiterated its support for the law enforcement agencies in their zero-tolerance stance on narcotic drugs, assuring full cooperation in any legal action taken against offenders.

Naga Council Dimapur: The NCD praised the Dimapur Police under Police Commissioner Aotula Imchen, subordinate police officers, and personnel for their intelligence in detecting and seizing the banned consignment.
The council urged the police and law enforcement agents to arrest all drug dealers, drug lords, and their gang members by "leaving no stone unturned" and award them befitting punishment.
The NCD also appealed to the leaders of Dimapur-based CSOs, citizens, and church leaders to cooperate with the police to curb the sale of narcotic drugs, banned pharmaceutical drugs, and liquors. It added that there may be other hidden storage facilities in Dimapur where such banned commodities are stocked for sale to youngsters.
Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation: The DAYO stated that such a seizure is a serious reminder of the growing threat posed by the illegal circulation of pharmaceutical drugs and other intoxicating substances in society.
The magnitude of the seizure is deeply concerning and highlights the need for continued vigilance and sustained enforcement against those involved in the illegal drug trade, it added.
The organisation strongly condemned the use of Dimapur as a transit point or market for illegal drugs and other intoxicating substances. It noted that the consequences of drug abuse are far-reaching, affecting not only individuals but also families, the youth, and the wider community, adding that no commercial interest can justify activities that endanger the lives and future of the younger generation.
While acknowledging the efforts of the Dimapur Police, the youth organisation urged the department to continue such intelligence-based operations and take stringent action against all persons found involved in the illegal procurement, storage, transportation, and distribution of such substances in accordance with the law.
It further appealed to the public to remain vigilant and extend cooperation to law enforcement agencies by providing credible information regarding drug-related activities.
