- DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Police have clarified the continuation of the one-way traffic
system along Nyamo Lotha Road—the stretch from Deluxe Point to Holy Cross
School junction.
-
- A press release issued on Saturday stated that the system,
initially implemented in October last year to facilitate the Road Over Bridge (ROB)
rehabilitation work, was retained after the ROB reopened in February due to
ongoing traffic assessments and public safety concerns.

-
- Responding to concerns raised by traders, residents, and
commuters, the police underscored the significant improvements achieved since
the one-way system's implementation.
-
- It highlighted that the one-way traffic system has
significantly improved peak hour traffic flow at crucial city junctions;
reduced head-on vehicle accidents at key intersections; eased pedestrian movement
in high-traffic areas such as schools and markets; and improved traffic flow
towards Supermarket (Naga Shopping Arcade), MP Road, and Eros Lane corridors.
-
- While acknowledging the inconvenience to some individuals,
the Dimapur Police stressed the broader benefits to public safety and overall
city mobility.
-
- “A fresh traffic audit is also underway to assess the
post-ROB situation. Any changes made will be evidence-based and aimed at
long-term relief for all the road users.
-
- “Dimapur Police remain committed to developing a more
balanced, efficient and inclusive traffic system for Dimapur,” it stated.
