Dimapur Police arrest a driver after his vehicle illegally entered the railway tracks of Dimapur Railway Station near the old flyover area.

DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Police arrested a 65-year-old driver after his vehicle, a Mahindra Thar, illegally entered the railway tracks towards the Dimapur Railway Station platform on December 16.
According to a police report, the vehicle (NL01 CA 8181) got stuck on line No. 1 near the old flyover area (Burma Camp side) at around 11:35 pm.
The police identified the driver as Thepfuneituo, a resident of Signal Angami, Dimapur. Upon receiving information, police personnel, in coordination with railway authorities, removed the vehicle from the tracks, ensuring no harm was caused to passengers, railway property, or the public.

A preliminary inquiry indicated that the act was a result of gross negligence and a violation of traffic and railway safety norms.
The police stated that the vehicle and the driver were taken into custody, and a case was registered at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Dimapur vide case No. 346/2025 u/s 153 and 147 of the Railway Act on Wednesday. An investigation is underway to ascertain whether alcohol or any other substance was involved.
Dimapur Police cautioned the public that unauthorised entry onto railway tracks is a serious offence that endangers lives and critical infrastructure.
