Dimapur Naga Students' Union condemns the drone attack on Langkho village and reiterates call for the immediate repeal of AFSPA.
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) has condemned the drone attack on Langkho village in the Naga Self-Administered Zone on October 3, which resulted in injuries to two civilians, including a minor girl, and caused damage to properties.
In a press release, the union stated that the targeting of civilian-populated areas constitutes a violation of International Humanitarian Law, including the Geneva Conventions and core United Nations Charter principles.
The DNSU stated that military operations must strictly adhere to the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precaution, adding that aerial strikes in inhabited civilian zones disregard human life and international statutes.
The union maintained that civilian lives, particularly those of women and children, cannot be dismissed as collateral damage, noting that military actions in civilian areas cause fear, insecurity, and trauma among innocent populations.

Furthermore, the DNSU expressed strong objection to the extension of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act across the state by the Ministry of Home Affairs, effective October 1. The union stated that the law has acted as an instrument of oppression, shielding perpetrators while stripping away fundamental human rights.
Demanding an immediate halt to all military actions and aerial strikes in civilian-populated zones, the union called for the immediate revocation of AFSPA to restore human rights, democratic values, and peace.
The DNSU also expressed solidarity with the Naga Students’ Federation and the victims of the Langkho attack, appealing to international human rights organisations, the United Nations, and civil society bodies to take cognisance of the violations.
