DIMAPUR — Employees of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) have decided to launch a tool-down strike if their backlog salaries and employee benefits, including EPF, gratuity, and GSLI are cleared not within seven days.
The strike follows a resolution passed during a general meeting of the Dimapur Municipal Council Employees Welfare Union (DMCEWU) held on July 24.
A press release issued by the union stated that it had unanimously decided to launch a ‘no pay, no work’ protest, ceasing all operations involving tools and machinery if the dues are not cleared between July 25 to August 4.

The employees stressed the urgent need to release pending salaries, some of which have reportedly remained unpaid for months.
The union demanded regular monthly payments of statutory benefits such as the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF), Group Savings Linked Insurance (GSLI), and gratuity.
It also expressed concern over the improper deployment of DMC staff and urged the DMC to assign duties in a more systematic and judicious manner.
