DIMAPUR — The Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) and Ao Senden on Monday jointly warned against attempts to stoke tribalism or communalism in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur, stating that any group or individual seeking to exploit the incident to spread hatred or create divisions would be viewed seriously.
The warning was issued in a declaration adopted during a special joint meeting of the two apex tribal bodies held at the CKS office in Tuensang.
In the declaration, the two organisations stated that any person or group sharing or publishing defamatory, hateful or maliciously constructed statements by taking advantage of the incident would be "viewed very seriously and dealt accordingly" by the two apex hohos.
They added that such actions could create unnecessary tensions, hurt public sentiments and threaten the long-standing relationship between the two communities.
