DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Ladies Club (DDLC) will host its 8th flower show “Colours of Spring” from February 19 to the 21st at the Integrated Business Hub & Innovation Centre (IBHIC), Dimapur.
The event aims to support local floriculturists and is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).
This was announced by the club’s president Nini Sekhose on Wednesday at a press conference in Dimapur.
She said that through this “colours of spring” event, flower sellers will be able to sell their produce with support from walk-in customers.

The three-day event will be inaugurated by Kaisa Rio, chief patron of the club, on February 19. It will feature seminars on floriculture, dragon fruit cultivation and mushroom cultivation. The seminars will be open to all interested participants free of charge.
Although the club has been in existence for the last 27 years and this is its 8th edition of the flower show, Sekhose said there has been inconsistency in organising such events as it requires manpower and that there are many reasons and challenges behind the scenes.
She also said the state Hornbill Festival has been encouraging a similar platform for floriculturists and they felt that they should arrange according to needs-based requirements.
She added that the Wednesday Market at Naga Shopping Arcade (Supermarket) has become more like a flower show with the increasing number of floriculturists in the state which, she said, is encouraging.
Sekhose informed that stalls are available and the prizes are being sponsored by the members as they believe that this flower show can help flower vendors and passionate flower growers to sell their produce.
The stalls are available for the sale of flowers and plants, flower pots and garden accessories, jewellery, cut flowers and artificial flowers.
Another highlight of the event is the competition for flowers and plants under six categories: Bonsai; orchids; cacti, succulents and euphorbia; foliage; perennials; and annuals (seasonal flowers).
The competition will be judged by three judges.
