DIMAPUR — Commissioner & Secretary and State Mission Director of ABDM, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi, inaugurated the ‘End-to-end model facility’ and officially launched the ‘Scan and share’ feature under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) at District Hospital Dimapur, on Saturday.

In his address, the commissioner & secretary said that the inauguration marks a significant step forward in the collective journey to strengthen healthcare delivery and make it more accessible, efficient, and patient-centric.

Khinchi said the end-to-end model facility will serve as a benchmark for integrating modern infrastructure, digital innovation, and compassionate care.

He also mentioned that the scan and share feature of ABDM is a transformative tool that empowers patients to seamlessly share their health records with doctors, ensuring faster, safer, and more coordinated treatment. This means less waiting, less paperwork, and more time for what truly matters — care, healing, and hope.

He went on to state that with the scan and share feature, they are not only embracing technology but also reaffirming their commitment to transparency, efficiency, and dignity in healthcare.

Khinchi asserted that at the heart of this digital transformation is the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), which gives every citizen a unique digital health ID, enabling secure access to their health records anytime, anywhere. In simple words, ABHA is the key that unlocks a truly connected healthcare system for all, he added.

“Today's launch is not just about technology - it is about trust, collaboration, and the promise of healthier communities,” he stated.

He also informed that the launch in Dimapur is only the beginning, with Tuensang expected to be the next district to roll out the initiative, followed by other districts.

During an interaction with media persons, Dr. Nyan Kikon, State Nodal Officer for the ABDM, encouraged the public to actively enrol for ABHA registration. He informed that Nagaland has achieved nearly 50% saturation in ABHA generation out of 15.7 lakh Aadhaar holders.

He also stated that the ABHA Personal Health Record (PHR) app enables individuals to securely store and manage their health data, and announced that assistance counters will be set up across district hospitals to help citizens with the registration process.

Drawing a parallel with widely used digital payment apps, the state nodal officer encouraged individuals to use any preferred PHR application to link and access their health records.

Its core elements include the ABHA digital identity, the healthcare professional registry, the health facility registry, and the ABHA mobile app, which collectively enable smooth and integrated management of personal health information, he explained.

As part of the mission, Dimapur District Hospital has been chosen as Nagaland’s first model facility for full digital integration. The hospital will serve as a pilot centre where all patient services from digital health records linked to ABHA numbers to data connectivity through the Unified Health Interface will be completely digitised, he added.

Further, the state nodal officer mentioned that the initiative ensures patient privacy and control over health information, facilitates on-the-spot ABHA creation, integrates government schemes like PM-JAY, and introduces QR-based systems for faster registration and payments.

Kikon added that the importance of the PHR app is that once individuals create their ABHA ID, the app becomes essential for linking and accessing their digital health records, effectively placing their complete medical history in their own hands.

Drawing parallels with familiar digital payment platforms such as Google Pay and Paytm, he highlighted that multiple PHR applications are available for both Android and iOS, allowing users to choose whichever app they prefer for scanning QR codes and managing health records.

He assured that dedicated staff will be present at registration counters to assist those unfamiliar with the process and the patients can scan the hospital’s QR code using any ABDM-enabled application to share verified demographic details, receive a digital token, and wait comfortably until their number is displayed.
