Dimapur councilors undertake drain clearance drive

• DIMAPUR — Continuing with the drain clearance drive initiated by several councilors of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) ahead of monsoon season, representatives including Kuhoi Zhimo of Ward No. 5, Kivikali Yepthomi of Ward No. 22, and Hemlu Gongmei of Ward No. 4 on Tuesday undertook drive to clear clogged drains in their respective wards.

• Given the proximity and interconnected drainage systems, the initiative was carried out collaboratively to ensure effective water flow, an update from the councilors stated.

• With the rainy season fast approaching, the councilors have prioritised the task to prevent water-logging and related inconveniences. It informed that the efforts followed the recent municipal elections held after 20 long years, with public expectations running high for visible improvements under their newly elected representatives.

• Meanwhile, the councilors have appreciated the respective GBs, chairmen and residents for their support. They also acknowledged the DMC for providing logistical assistance in executing the drain clearance work.

• It also informed that the cleanliness drive would continue on April 2 at the Old Overbridge Colony under Ward No. 5 in the morning. Residents of the area are requested to cooperate and participate in the initiative to ensure its success.
