- DIMAPUR — To provide clean and healthy meat/
fish to the consumers, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed
butchers to maintain strict hygiene and sanitary measures while processing/
handling of the meat/ fish for human consumption.
- An update from DMC stated that the resolution to this effect
was taken during a meeting held on February 5 at its office. It informed that
no traders should operate/ open stall at the footpath.
- All poultry dressed meat stalls witin DMC jurisdiction are
ordered to construct dust proof structure and maintain strict hygiene within a
period of seven days.
- It cautioned that failing to comply with the order would
invite punishment as per provision of the act even to the extent of cancelling
of trade license.
- In order to provide better service to the public and
consumers through ante-mortem/ post mortem inspection by the veterinary public
health cell, DMC has directed butchers and pig suppliers to strictly adhere to
slaughtering timing from 3 am to 8 am.
- It informed that no supplier should supply un-castrated pigs
to the butchers. Also the butchers are directed not to sell measly pork/beef to
public. It cautioned that defaulters would be penalised as per the relevant
provision of the Municipal Act.
- It also stated that suspected animal should be quarantined
and supervised by the department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences.
It further stated that emergency slaughter could be done in-case of injuries
during transportation on the advice of a veterinarian.
