the felicitation programme at Christian Higher Secondary School on Saturday.
- DIMAPUR — Diampur
unit of the All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) on Saturday
felicitated HSLC and HSSLC toppers during a programme held at Christian Higher
Secondary School, Dimapur.
- Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, the deputy
commissioner (DC) of Central GST Dimapur, Dr. Thejaselhou Yhome, stated that he
wanted to be a software engineer but became a medical doctor and then into
state administration and finally as a tax collector, which he found it very
fulfilling.
- He asserted that a student's journey is shaped by many
factors, often beyond their control and added that few years from now, they
might find themselves in roles they never imagined. He, therefore, encouraged
the students to be flexible in their options while choosing their career and
advised them to have the willingness to try unconventional roles, which can
become very fulfilling.

- He opined that the key factor is to align their career with
their skills, aptitude, acumen and financial realities but most importantly the
emerging trends and added that discipline and diligence are the keys to a
student's success. He noted that they are entering an extremely competitive
environment, where achieving their goals will require outperforming nearly
99.9% of their peers.
- He also advised the students to practice humility and
develop the habit of seeking guidance from those who have already walked the
path such as successful professionals or mentors and emphasised that strategic
preparation is crucial, as studying without direction would lead them nowhere.
- He also cautioned students about the importance of learning
to embrace failure, noting that setbacks are inevitable, especially in academic
life and reminded them that failure is also a part of their growth. He also
expressed that students should strive to build a strong foundation rooted in
their Christian and traditional values.
- He further reminded that success is not just about awards,
prizes or grades but also about personal growth, resilience and staying true to
themselves.
- The event brought together students and teachers from 15
schools across Dimapur district, where 42 HSLC toppers, 23 HSSLC toppers and 35
teachers whose students secured the highest state marks in individual subjects
were felicitated.
