  • DES conducts training on VLDI application software for staff


  • Neidilhou Keditsu along with resource persons, senior officers and trainees during the one-day state level training on VLDI application software in Kohima on Tuesday.


  • DIMAPUR — The Department of Economics and Statistics (DES) on Tuesday conducted a one-day state level training programme on online village level development indicators (VLDI) application software at its conference hall for districts and blocks statistical staff involving in collection of VLDI data.

  • Speaking at the inaugural programme, the department director, Neidilhou Keditsu, highlighted the overview of the training and importance of collecting VLDI data for policy formulation. He mentioned that VLDI data would be crucial for the state government to identify gaps among the villages and allocate resources efficiently for the uplift of the community at the grassroots.

  • He encouraged the officials to work sincerely towards generating accurate, reliable and real time data, stated an update from the department.

  • It mentioned that VLDI application software was developed by the department in collaboration with Calymnus Technologies, Kolkata. The software is a web-based GIS-enabled platform designed for comprehensive data collection, analysis, storage and dissemination of major basic amenities in the rural areas of the state.

  • It is a well-developed functional centralise, single window platform to provide instant access and real time VLDI information in the state. Under the application software, data would be collected from 1337 villages across 17 districts and 76 rural development blocks.

  • During the technical session, Chiradeep Adhikari, group head consulting (IT&ITES) of Calymnus Technologies, Kolkata, presented on the use of application software, while practical session was taken up by Salvester Chubasenba, programme officer, and Nchibamneu Newmai, ESO.

  • Kezhalelhou Solo, deputy director, chaired the session and Neisatuo Puro, additional director, delivered the closing remarks.
