- DIMAPUR — Having
observed that various forms of donations such as sale of lotteries, coupons,
badges and calendars from various organisations in the district is causing
great inconvenience to the public at large, the deputy commissioner (DC) of
Niuland, Sara S Jamir, has issued directive for strict adherence with immediate
effect.
- The order stated that permission to organise annual fete day
and sales day would be given only to those organisations which are well
established and functioning in the district with specific date and location.
- The DC has totally banned sale of badges/ coupons and
calendars except for government sponsored sales such as Teacher’s Day and Armed
Forces Flag Day badges.

- The DC has also banned sale of lotteries except for those
recognised organisations/ institutions, which have been involved in charitable
activities in the district. However, it stated that such organisations/
institutions should submit applications to the Home department through the
deputy commissioner.
- The order was issued for strict compliance of all the
unions, societies, associations and groups functioning in Niuland district. It
warned that violation of the order would invite strict action as per relevant
section of the law.
