Retiring Development Commissioner Temsunaro Aier was honoured at a farewell programme in Kohima for 35 years of service.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Planning and Transformation organised a farewell programme for retiring Development Commissioner Temsunaro Aier at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, on April 1.
According to a DIPR report, in her farewell address, Aier expressed gratitude to her colleagues, staff, and the Government of Nagaland for being part of her journey in public service.
She reflected that public service, for her, had never been merely a profession but a true calling.
Looking back on her career, she said she saw not just files and paperwork, but people, teamwork, challenges overcome, and milestones achieved together. She noted that the Department of Planning and Transformation has evolved significantly over the years and said she felt proud to have contributed to its journey.

She stated that institutions are strengthened not merely by individuals but by values such as integrity, dedication, and hard work. Describing her tenure in the Planning department as diverse and enriching, she thanked the state government for placing its trust in her. She urged all present to remain committed to the ideals of public service.
P Nungsangwapang Jamir, Secretary of the Planning and Transport Department, described the event as a celebration of Temsunaro Aier’s 35 years of service. He noted that she was the 29th development commissioner and the first and so far only woman to hold the post since statehood.
Vilhouhunuo Sachu, Additional Development Commissioner, expressed appreciation for Aier’s leadership and mentorship. Sachu said that Aier had consistently encouraged her colleagues, attributing many of the department’s achievements to her guidance.
Aier began her career as an NCS officer in 1991 and was inducted into the Indian Administrative Service in 2022. She first served as EAC Kohima in 1992 and held key positions, including managing director of Samagra Shiksha and commissioner and secretary of Information and Public Relations.
